The Peak Walking Group was formed in November 1999 and we now have members from Doncaster to Nottingham and Salford to Peterborough. It is run by a Committee who are elected yearly at our AGM. They are a friendly group and provide enjoyable walks for adults of all ages. Children (under 18) are welcome provided they are capable of the distances and are accompanied by a parent/guardian. Walks are held most Sundays in the Peak District National Park and occasionally in surrounding areas.
They provide a welcoming atmosphere, lively conversation, the opportunity for people to take photos and generally soak up the scenery, and to also have a bit of a chuckle on the way round, and a lunch break when everyone is hungry.
They recently celebrated their 11th year, and had the pleasure in making one of their longest serving members an Honorary Life Member. Dave Clarke was encouraged to join the group by his wife Irene, who thought that being in his 60’s and after many years of long distance walking on his own, the Pennine Way being one of them, that he should consider joining a walking group.
