The 1 day 'Leadership in Running Fitness' training course is designed to equip new leaders with the knowledge and skill required to lead mixed ability groups of walkers and joggers. The course is divided into theory and practical sessions and gives plenty of information on leading groups.
The day will include classroom based presentations and interactive group exercises as well as practical sessions which look at leading beginners and mixed ability groups.
The following topics are covered:
• Run in England/Jog Derbyshire ethos and aims
• The role of the Jog Leader
• The coaching process
• Warm ups and cool downs
• Leading a beginners group
• Risk Assessment
• Fitness factors and session planning
• Leading mixed ability groups
• Goal setting
• Setting up a Jogging Group
On completion of the course and subject to confirmation of a CRB disclosure, UK Athletics will issue you with a coaching license. You will then be able to register your Jog Derbyshire group with us and “get up and jogging”.
(Anyone who has had a CRB disclosure for previous England Athletics courses or qualifications will not be required to obtain an additional CRB check).

The Jog Derbyshire team will be happy to help you with the necessary paperwork for the Jog Leader training and CRB application process, as well as support Leaders in setting up and promoting new groups if required.
Please remember that attendance at a Leadership in Running Fitness course is required for all potential Jog Derbyshire jog group leaders as the coaching license provides you with UK Athletics insurance.
