Inaugural Jog Derbyshire 5k enjoyed by all

OVER 200 COMPETITORS TOOK PART IN THE FIRST EVER JOG DERBYSHIRE 5K AT SHIPLEY COUNTRY PARK ON SUNDAY 5 SEPTEMBER.

Race Runners

Runners, joggers and walkers of all ages took part in our inaugural 5k event. Conditions were ideal with just a little cloud cover to keep the temperature comforably warm, and all 213 participants competing on the day finished in under 55 minutes.

The race was won by Richard Weir in a time of 17mins 51 seconds. Second place went to James Shaw in 18mins 39secs, and Luke James ran in third in a time of 18mins 50secs.

First lady home was Debbie Chapman in 22mins 41 secs, and Wendy Ray second lady in 23mins 25secs. Third place was awarded to Rose Leivers, but we must acknowledge a huge oversight in missing out Nic Abrehart from the podium places. Nic finished in 24mins 14secs, ahead of Rose who crossed the line in 25mins 19min. Both have therefore been awarded a 3rd place prize.

First Junior runner home was Scott Ram, in a fantastic time of 22mins 51secs!

The Jog Derbyshire team prize winners will be announced later today.

A huge, huge thank you to all our competitors, their supporters and our fantastic team of volunteers and helpers on the day, including the staff at Shipley Country Park and the Erewash Sound team.

And, of course, a special thank you to our event partners - Asics and Derby Runner for providing the 5k prizes and Buxton Water.
