The Derbyshire Baton Challenge starts on the 22nd of July from the Olympic Park in London and finishes on 27th of July at County Hall in Matlock.
Groups of young people will carry the baton the entire 205 miles while walking, running, canoeing, biking, wheel-chairing… in fact any form of non-motorised transport they can come up with!
The challenge follows Sustrans (Sustainable Transport) routes from inner London via towns and cities and through some stunning countryside and scheduled to arrive in Derbyshire for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.
Children and families can choose their own mode of travel and a suitable distance to create their own individual challenge as part of the event. There will also be an option to raise money for the Sport Relief to help young people in need across the world.
